From the time we’re kids, Valentine’s Day has always had a special feeling around it. Now, as the owner of a stationery brand, Line & Kind Paper Co., Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite times of year.
Whether online or in-person, I get to help people choose the perfect card for their Valentine (partner, friend, family member, whoever!). From matching their personality, to what they want to say, to something a little more witty, each card has the chance to go from ‘just a card’ to a keepsake; a memory they will hold onto and read over and over again as the years go by. How special is that?
But one thing we often overlook is the envelope.
It’s the perfect place for adding a bit of personalization and a little fun to your Valentine. Here are 3 quick and easy ways to add an extra touch to the envelope of your Valentine’s Day card. And I promise you don’t have to be great at drawing to recreate these!

What You Need:
A blank envelope
A marker/pen of your choice
01 - Bow Border
Draw two teardrop shapes connecting in the middle, then two swooshes moving away from each other to create the ribbons that hang down. Then, add some wavy lines to create a border all the way around the edge of the envelope.
Tip: Use a piece of scratch paper to practice the size of the bow before you draw on your envelope.
02 - Scallops
Draw a rectangle around the edge of the envelope. Then, starting in one of the corners, draw half-circles all the way around. Fill them in for more color!
I added a sweet To/From on the front & a heart on the back flap for a little more personalization.
03 - Hearts & Stripes
Draw a box in the center of your envelope. Then add vertical stripes across the length of the envelope. Be sure not to add the stripes in the center of the box! Then, add small hearts randomly along the stripes, creating, almost, a wallpaper look. Like on the Scallops, that box becomes the perfect place to add the recipient's name or even a love quote.
Quick, easy, but the perfect way to add a little extra something to an otherwise plain envelope.
