At the beginning of every year, there is a group of people who love writing their new goals; a list of items they hope to accomplish at any given point throughout the year. If you’re like me, that has never worked for you.
I’m someone who needs a plan. A detailed, broken-down list of steps that will get me there.
That’s why I created this monthly goal list download. It’s a one page, printable-right-at-home sheet that you can use every month to reassess and plan. Why monthly? Because as we move throughout the year, our goals change and evolve, and sometimes our goals need to be adjusted.
Printing this sheet out at the beginning of every month has helped me assess what I’m working towards. As the owner of an independent stationery brand, Line & Kind Paper Co., I have big retail, wholesale, and in-person goals. Being able to break those down into smaller, bite-sized, monthly chunks has helped me not only feel more accomplished but like I’m actually moving forward.
Let’s take a closer look at the list:

Room for Personal & Professional Goals
With two separate sections, not only can you break down larger goals into steps but you can separate them into their own categories. Goals you have in your personal life are often very different than professional goals, and they deserve their own attention. With two separate spaces, they become clearer.

Quote + Illustration
I’m a big believer that a small phrase can change a whole day, and this quote, “You can begin anywhere, anytime” was perfect for this download. It’s a great reminder that at any given point in the day, or month, or year, we have the ability to make a change and start fresh. How wonderful is that?

It Would Be Nice If…
This space I made for a ‘little treat’ activity, if you will. A side quest that it would be nice if you could do that month but won’t make or break anything. For example, planning dinner with friends, finishing that book you started, cleaning out one closet in your home, or spending a day at the park. This box is for something you don’t ordinarily do in your regular schedule, but something that would make you smile.
It’s Okay If I Don’t…
On the flip side, this box is for giving yourself grace. At the end of the day, even with all the planning & goal lists in the world, we are human, and we don’t always get everything done. This month I wrote, It’s okay if I don’t make my monthly sales goal. Do I want to? Of course, but after coming out of the holiday season, and into the throes of product development these past few months, not hitting my monthly sales goal is okay. My focus has been elsewhere, and it’s unreasonable for me to expect myself to upkeep everything all at the same time. It’s okay. Think about what you would write in this box this month.

Inspo/Mini Junk Journal
Last, there’s space for a mini junk journal or mood board. I have always been a collector of momentos & trinkets, I’m incredibly sentimental that way. So I left this space as a way to collect items from this month. Did you go to an event? Tape the ticket in this box. The cute polaroid you took? Add it. The sticker from the apple you got at the farmer’s market? Stick it. By the end of the month, you’ll have a collection of items you can then cut out and add right into your journal.
Not into that? Make it a mini mood board. Set aside time to collect images you're inspired by that reflect the season, your specific goals, or the mindset you want to be in for that month.

Tip Hang It Where You Can See It
After it’s all filled out hang your goal list where you can see it often. I have mine on the wall above my desk so that every time I sit down to work, I’m reminded of what I want to accomplish. It might seem obvious, but it’s a great way to shift your mindset and remind yourself why you wrote those goals in the first place.
I’m not a goals person but I’m giving this a shot, and I hope you’ll join me! You can download the goal list here. When you do, snap a pic and be sure to tag us on Instagram at @lineandkind. We might just send you a special discount code when you do!
