New Stickers in the Making

A relatively new product that I've fallen in love with are stickers!

They’re small, you can put them anywhere, they don’t cost a ton, you can group them together in packs (def will have more of these in the future!) so I figured today I'd give you a glimpse at some new ones I've been working on.

Like most things I make I usually come to the table (aka the computer) with an idea already in mind. I usually get it out of my head with a rough rendition first. Once I’m satisfied with where it’s at, I like to do some market research to a) make sure I’m not accidentally or inadvertently copying someone and b) to make sure it’s an original idea or an original take on an idea. For example, how many rainbow stickers have you seen out there recently? I knew I wanted to make the Rainbow Art Print into a sticker but I wanted it to be my take on a rainbow ya know? Does that make sense? I want to make sure I'm adding something new to the sticker world.

Once I’ve done that with all my ideas, it’s time to refine them. I experiment with the overall design, size (new stickers might be a bit larger!), if I'm going to add a phrase, and color.

For this new set I really wanted to incorporate more phrases. For my line, I’ve definitely found people gravitate towards the stickers with phrases on them – the Bee Brave sticker and the Be The Sunshine sticker are definitely my best sellers! With phrases it’s, for me, important that the phrase placement doesn’t feel like an afterthought, it should look like it was meant to be there all along. When pulling elements from other products and adding on to them, like the rainbow, they can feel disjointed sometimes so I definitely played with the text a lot in these.

While I think I have a final version picked out let me know which you like in the comments! I love me some feedback so I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Anyways, once I have a final version, I submit them for print, approve the cut line, and then wait till they arrive! Unpacking them is definitely my favorite step – nothing beats seeing your design come to life as a physical product.

That’s it! I’m super excited to see how you all like this next set. Hoping they’ll be ready in the next couple weeks!

If you have any questions about my process leave me a comment here or send me a message on Instagram! I would love to hear from you.

Talk soon friends!
